A dream in green

I have to admit it. I like steel and rust more than shiny pipes and black and white modern design. Thus being so, I grabbed some buckets of rivets and my famous rusty steel and green glass textures.
 
What I wrenched out of my head after 4 days of building was my new headquarter in a 140m diameter cogwheel.

Now, after the rivets have cooled down, I decided to pack that up for sale in a while.

I was asked why I would be not selling it right away.

The answer is fairly easy:
To show off a bit. I behold it to be a somewhat unique structure in SL (yes I know well that there are probably a million unique structures around – but this is my personal-lookwhat-I’ve-done-now-structure ).

But to offer some solace to the people who already asked me about it because of the looks and the somewhat nifty gate-construction, I took the vastly huge entrance hall and converted it into a separate structure, which I called “The Greenhouse”. This is going to be the first prefab of a new line of products, I call Steelworks

The Greenhouse offers a spacious hall, ideally suited as a workshop,
a store, a gallery or simply a stylish home.

The innovative entrance doors open automaticly and with a massive sound to let you in while the external lanterns allow you to set your entrance to the right light. The lanterns detect nighttime and switch on automaticly as soon as your sim turns dark.

Hammerwielder goes high…

No! this isnt about drugs After renting out mainland for quite a
while now to cover parts of my tier, I decided to expand that
area of business and aim for high targets.

Well, basicly that means, I from now on also offer skybox rentals
for people with a slim moneyclip.

I just placed about 25 cosy furnished skyboxes at Dhaulagiri which start
from 150 L$ per week with 30 prims (See picture).

This allows tenants to place some personal things in there and make
it “theirs”. More prims are available on request at a rate of 2.5 L$/prim/week.

Soon we will also set up some more luxury skybox models.

So if you know somebody, who looks for an affordable home in SL -
send them to Dhaulagiri..

New years, new ambitions, new armors

I know, I am about half a month late there but a happy new year to everyone.

New year, new groups, new motivation, new products could also be a headline for this.
After the last year being devilishly busy, this year started somewhat calm
during holidays I was even able to build some new things.

One of those was my new mainstore,of which I will report in some following post. I

I felt quite honoured, as the folks of Public Sandbox Group (PSG), a group of gifted builders,
who run several sandboxes like at Hyboria, Mauve, Columbine and Kings Bishop and who teach people to build,
invited me to join their ranks.

Due to this I returned to building in sandboxes instead of working alone up on my shops skyplatform.
And it seems to be true enough that company forwards creativity.

Soon after starting again to hang out there, I dug out some old project idea: the Panzerklein

This is a concept, I saw in a computer game once (and even though suspected by some, it was not
Bioshock) where people used self propelled armor-suits with heavy weaponry.

Except for the heavy weapons I liked that idea and decided to give it a try. Ad finally here is the result.
A steampunk hazard suit for the adventurous avatar, which will allow him to move to the most dangerous envivroments
without any harm.:)

Besides it will amuse its owner with some nice features like some weird sounds coming from the engine, a walk that
indicates that the constructor may have been doing something wrong here and there and my favourite:
a gramophone-sound system to amuse yourself and bystanders.

I also offer a free product demo, so everyone could try this peak point in steel-fashion before
buying it.

The Yardsale Avatar

On a wild party a few people discussed about strange avatars. Then we came to moving shops … suddenly somebody uttered the thought that if youd had to carry all that stuff from one shop to the other, you’d look like a moving yardsale … a big pile of rubbish.

The natural thought to follow while dancing was to try that and hang all kinds of queer stuff on every single attacmentpoint to get and keep on spinning in dancing.

Ta DAHHHH!:) Everyone kept laughing for half an hour and it was decided that the Outfit should be remembered and offered as an Avatar.

Let the summer begin…

Its grand old holiday time for the next two weeks in old RL, which basicly means that I have more time for inworld matters:) For that reason, I am in the lucky position to complete some designs and wrap them up.:)

Besides that, I fiddled myself into GIMP, my mysterious graphics program, with the effect, that I now strive to improve the design of my product-posters.

Here is my first result …. well as the creator, I will naturally think it’s great …what would you think?

Oh btw thats a new product too, of course:)

 

New Product: Ventriloq – Personal Greeter HUD

As a shopkeeper in Second Life ™, you normally have to repeat certain welcomings or product-related phrases to point out this or that over and over. That is, if you happen to be a shopkeeper who seeks ‘face-toface’-contact with customers or have employees for giving personal service.

Examples:
“Greetings. Welcome at SLCME headquarters. How may I help you?”
“Please remark that, if our products get utterly destroyed because of a malfunctioning prim, we will of course redeliver a fresh copy of the respective prim.”

Quite some typing for business-conversation, you have to do multiple times, isn’t it?

Due to this, a gadget, worn as a HUD that makes your avatar actually say whatever phrases you preset with a simple click, would defenitely save you some typing time.

Find it at The Hammerwielder Store Shop, on Second Life(tm) Exchange or on my onrez-site and take a look on a way to make serving customers a tad easier.

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! New Things!

I neglected my blog for two week now out of a very understandable reason: I wanted to find out, if it is me or SL. I am talking about the the old feeling to jogg in jam all the time. Well it was SL mainly. I found out by buying a new laptop.

This beauty now has two gigs of RAM and a recognizable gfx card. The good point is, I can now run windlight. Another one is, that I was able to heighten my view distance to maximum … which I reduced again immediately to keep at least a little bit of the impression to have my land in a decent neighbourhood.

Now, after I took some time to transfer all data to the new machine, I was finally back in business, only to find out that SL was still darn slow. So much for that hope.

Anyhow, I finally packed managed to box up Jen Wise’s fabulous Tudor House Design and set it for sale on the Storeshop and on my vendor network.

Its a really beautiful piece of work and I agreed to sell it on a comission base for I am still a bit dense when it comes to homedesigns. Check it out either at the shop or at the lifedisplay on Dhaulagiri. Of course you may also check it out on SLX or on Onrez.

Also -leaving all admin work behind- I did some contemplative afternoon-hour, starting to set up another long time-idea: A Newsstand, where you will find all the newspapers, blogs and SL publications. I admit, the idea isnt especially new but I wanted a decent corner for this and a decent building to go as a newsstand, which also can be used as a shop. Well, after some fiddling and some design critics from my sweetheart, I finished the little building, placed the first vendors and IMed people for to send me more. So if you run a newspaper or a magazine or a Blog in SL, make yourself heard and drop me some info or your vendor to place it there.

Now… back to work.

p.s.: did I mention that i soon will have to cut down RL in favour of this?:)

CEOs, weekends and snow

Boy SL sees happenings lately:)

Some CEO ejecting and becoming head of the board. While some wiseguru-newsagencies again honk the SL-is going -down-horn due to this, I think it was the right decision. SL has become so big, that it needs a department for vision on top while someone else than Philip Linden does the anyday business. In my opinion, SL will gain from this. Fresh people may also mean fresh ideas. Not too bad in view to LL either:)

Well, back from the huge policy-plane, I m on easter holiday, which means, I had some time for neat improvements. Especially due to the snow outside in old Germany,  it was not too hard to get to my working platform, doing some of the administrational stuff for my shop. Did I mention that my to do list always tends to be my worst nightmare?:)

In fact I updated all my selling system to hippovend-technology and also developed some Comission Vendor to give away to people.

Another stroke of luck was that one of the three major shops ejected from the Dhaulagiri Sim, allowing me to buy half the place and to fill my land contingent. So now I have the prims to get back on my segment-shop idea with a decent primcount in my back to set a lifedisplay and rent out the shops there.

Right now, I am fiddling on a promotion-HUD to give away to people who do what i have no more time for: PRon group channels. So if you want that job, IM me:))

New Product: Gorean Forest Mansion ‘Etaria’

 Spacious and open is the impression, we wanted to give with the design of the ‘Etaria’ mansion. Taken over from the concept of the far smaller ‘Eloria’Forest-Retreat, the mansion is designed to hold your home in a most gracious way, with vast space, with open windows and a lofty balcony to enyoy the view or land without crashes, if needed.The slightly rusty metal roof grants a view to the nights sky as well as on the suns blaze on sunny sims.

To enjoy the building without boundaries, you will also find a Hammerwielder Teleport-System already built in, which you will only need to reset once after rezzing before using it to jump between the spacious halls on both floors. It will also allow you to easily configure other landing points by a simpel 4-step-system (get new destination-object from the TP-base, rename it, drop it where you want a destination to be and reset it).

This building will fit evenly well in a gorean setting as it will in some elven or fantasy surrounding.

Busy-Bee-Weekend

Now this weekend has seen some work. By the way, did I ever mention that my fiance always sneers at me as I claim to work, while I lay down on my couch, digging under a cosy blanket with my laptop in front of me on a small  table.
The fact alone that my attention is malfunctioning during that time -especially in catching up on her comments about what’s on TV- should tell her that I am highly  concentrated:)

However, during this weekend I managed to work a bit, even though SL was jammy again at  times.

At first, me and my friend Dispensus Waechter got back on the old idea to rent out the Storeshop’s Shop Displays on the Life-display-platform over the shop (God, what a repititory sentence).Hrmmph. Explanation:

In Dhaulagiri, I finally had the chance to get rid of the Holovendor – solution for all of  my products and to put up Life-Displays, people can teleport to and see the structure they  would buy in full size.

This display platform now has its traffic and it naturally costs some prims. Due to the fact, that my main focus is on buildings, I have no big ambition in creating furniture. This means, the the shops always appeared somewhat bare and lifeless, while I alwayswanted to give the customer an impression of what my creations could look like in their place.

So we hammered out the idea to rent those display shops to shopkeepers.

My friend Dispenus Waechter took over the task to oversee the rental business there and will  do so for the upcoming lifedisplay of the segment shops, soon to come.

He bought a hippo-rental server and did set up the rentboxes and rental boards. So far the  boxes seem to be brillo, even though we aren’t smart enough to use the web-based-server  option as of yet:)

We hope to offer some synergy-effect to shopkeepers here, due to its a free-tp zone. This  basicly means that they can offer their customers the chance to hop into their shops while  also the customers of the Hammerwielder Store Shop will pass by their shops to see the structures and  -of course- whats in them.

Now so much for that. I myself at the same time bought a hippo-update-server and  experimented with it. This means, that from now on, I will ship my products in Omega Rez  _locus Boxes which will look for an update every time they are rezzed to build a structure.

The customer will be given any never version on that very moment.

I hope this piece of service will improve quality for I am now able to correct little  glitches found immediately and not have to contact buyers one by one.

And finally what I did this weekend was to finish the forest mansion, I had underway for  quite some time now and boxed it up for sale (see product article above).

Now who says you can’t work on a couch?!
