A dream in green

25 02 2009

I have to admit it. I like steel and rust more than shiny pipes and black and white modern design. Thus being so, I grabbed some buckets of rivets and my famous rusty steel and green glass textures.

What I wrenched out of my head after 4 days of building was my new headquarter in a 140m diameter cogwheel.

Now, after the rivets have cooled down, I decided to pack that up for sale in a while.

I was asked why I would be not selling it right away.

The answer is fairly easy:
To show off a bit. I behold it to be a somewhat unique structure in SL (yes I know well that there are probably a million unique structures around – but this is my personal-lookwhat-I’ve-done-now-structure 🙂 ).

But to offer some solace to the people who already asked me about it because of the looks and the somewhat nifty gate-construction, I took the vastly huge entrance hall and converted it into a separate structure, which I called “The Greenhouse”. This is going to be the first prefab of a new line of products, I call Steelworks

ps_greenhouse_001c

The Greenhouse offers a spacious hall, ideally suited as a workshop,
a store, a gallery or simply a stylish home.

The innovative entrance doors open automaticly and with a massive sound to let you in while the external lanterns allow you to set your entrance to the right light. The lanterns detect nighttime and switch on automaticly as soon as your sim turns dark.

Back to (Second) Life

3 10 2008

Oh dear, what a year.

After finishing my diploma and acquiring a new post in RL I had to settle in there. After did that, my bosses at the city administration  decided that they’d need me to hop into the local animal asylum as an emergency manager to streighten things until a regular manager is hired. Intriguing.

Now … after I passed that job to the new manager, I am finally free again to return to the net for longer than 15 minutes per day and do things, I like to do like buildingand straightening out my own shop:)

It’s high time to buld something and pack up those Boulevard – Segment shop project, I have in my pocket for ages.:()

Let the summer begin…

19 06 2008

Its grand old holiday time for the next two weeks in old RL, which basicly means that I have more time for inworld matters:) For that reason, I am in the lucky position to complete some designs and wrap them up.:)

Besides that, I fiddled myself into GIMP, my mysterious graphics program, with the effect, that I now strive to improve the design of my product-posters.

Here is my first result …. well as the creator, I will naturally think it’s great …what would you think?

Oh btw thats a new product too, of course:)

New Product: Gorean Forest Mansion ‘Etaria’

17 03 2008

ps_etaria-001.jpg Spacious and open is the impression, we wanted to give with the design of the ‘Etaria’ mansion. Taken over from the concept of the far smaller ‘Eloria’Forest-Retreat, the mansion is designed to hold your home in a most gracious way, with vast space, with open windows and a lofty balcony to enyoy the view or land without crashes, if needed. The slightly rusty metal roof grants a view to the nights sky as well as on the suns blaze on sunny sims.

To enjoy the building without boundaries, you will also find a Hammerwielder Teleport-System already built in, which you will only need to reset once after rezzing before using it to jump between the spacious halls on both floors. It will also allow you to easily configure other landing points by a simpel 4-step-system (get new destination-object from the TP-base, rename it, drop it where you want a destination to be and reset it).

This building will fit evenly well in a gorean setting as it will in some elven or fantasy surrounding.

Product: Vintage Mall ‘ The Majestic’

21 02 2008

One of the purposes of this blog is to announce and -of course- promote products, I created and offer at my shop. Well, I guess now is a good time to start to do so.

I have already created quite a bunch of vintage shops, homes, a castle and miscellaneous gadgets, but I intend to only spotlight one or two of them and concentrate on upcoming products.

Comments on any product will be highly appreciated. For one reason, this helps me to do better products in the future and for another: I like to hear if somebody tells me that what i do is good:)

Now as for the ‘Majestic’ – Mall design, I maybe should start with the technical data:

The Majestic

I built this structure because I just bought the location on Dhaulagiri and needed something new to offer my things in.

The Majestic 2The old warehouse, I used was fine and you will find it among my products in the shop, but it was simply not fitting my L-shaped land without taking some of the atmoshpere. The Majestic 4

So I came up with some new idea, I had bouncing round my head for quite some time.

This idea and the fact that i always wanted to experiment about the possibilities of huge prims, enabled me to constrruct this one out of only 130 prims which leaves you only with the problem of footprint(to any troll-feeders: yes i know about the huge prim-debate that has been going on for several years now and due to the jump in server technology, I am of the opinion that LL would do good to invent larger prims that can be modified properly).

I wanted something bright and shiny but also with what I call ‘the-golden-age-look’. So I took some nice terracotta-wallpaper-texture, made it semi-reflective and attained the look it has now and which still blows me away when I watch it during sundown or dawn-phase without even using windlight.

The Majestic 3

I intend to do some more in that look, just to see where it leads me. But that will be a job for the time, when I boxed up all the stuff i have finished in my pocket.

The Majestic 5A structure this big always has some temple-like character, so the rezbox, I ship it in holds the open-to all-sides design and an additional rezbox with separator-elements, shopsign-dummies and prims that turn the arches into alcovens by closing the walls on three of the four sides of the building.

This way you can separate the whole building into 24 smaller shops to rent out with even some space left in the middle.  You only need to place that rezbox in the yellow marker in the middle of the gound floor and rez the additional config with the usual-3-click-technique, you are used from rezboxes all out SL.

Saying that, reminds me that I had loads of requests for the effects of the HAVOC 4 upgrade. I use the 1.11 version of the omega rez-locus scripts on all my buildings which on the one hand works fine with HAVOC and on the other hand enables you to rez multiple buildings from different boxes which do not interfere with each other, which was extremely annoying, when you worked on a sim-wide-level, placing structures to see how they look.

But back to the building:

Like all my buildings, the ‘Majestic’ comes with mod- and copy-permissions so you can adapt it to your needs at any time.

In the present style, I think it will do good as a small mall, a huge shop, a temple or even as club. If you have the intentions to use it as a home, please remark, that there are no bathroom facilities included;)

Cry Havoc and let slip the adboards

30 01 2008

When visiting some sims, where owners used Hammerwielder Store Shop – Designs to stuff the place,
I came to talk to the owner of one of them, who told me that he was happy that
LL finally updated her island with HAVOC running on it now.

“Great!”, I thought to myself,”LL made another step forward with some visible effort to improve the infrastructure!”.

“Not so great!”, I thought just 20 seconds later, when the Simowner told me that the older
models of the rez-locus-boxes, which where used for my earlier models seem to be not very
compatible with havoc.

“Ahrrgl!” was my first official comment on that matter. After a review I would change that one into:”Oh well, it seems, I know what to spend my time with at this weekend.” 🙂

I will have to update all those old rezboxes to the newest script version. Oh dear.
But as the sign, I always wave says:”We give excellent service!”. And so I try.

I will update those boxes by the weekend and everyone who bought the old versions may IM me to receive
an updated version of the respective shop after he showed me his old version.

The rest of the week was loaded with efforts to bring people to my Advertising Hub to
rent some adboard and help me to keep the atmosphere.

Here is your chance to make yourself visible:)
